Cookie notice
This notice describes how News Drift Spark Pte. Ltd. uses cookies, browser local storage and similar technologies on newsdriftspark.life. We keep the stack small: one essential consent record, optional functional loading for embedded maps, and analytics storage that remains off unless you explicitly enable it.
What are cookies and local storage?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Local storage is a browser feature that can hold similar text values with a different API. We use both to remember your privacy choices consistently across page loads.
How we ask for consent
When you first visit the Site, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen with three actions: Accept all, Customise and Reject all. Accept all enables essential and functional storage but keeps analytics off. Reject all enables essential storage only. Customise opens a panel where you can toggle functional and analytics categories independently before saving.
Your choice is stored for one hundred eighty days unless you change it sooner. When the record expires, the banner may appear again so you can confirm or update preferences.
Cookie and storage table
| Name / key | Category | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| nds_consent_v17 | Essential | Stores JSON consent object (essential, functional, analytics flags and timestamp) | 180 days | News Drift Spark (first-party cookie) |
| cookie_consent_v1 | Essential | Mirror of consent JSON in localStorage as backup if cookies are cleared | Until cleared by user or browser | News Drift Spark (localStorage) |
| Functional map load | Functional | When enabled, allows Google Maps iframe src to be set on elements with data-map-embed | Session / until consent changes | News Drift Spark script |
| Google Maps cookies | Functional (third-party) | May be set by Google when map iframe loads — see Google policies | Varies | Google LLC |
| Analytics (none by default) | Analytics | No analytics cookies are written unless you enable analytics in the customise panel | N/A unless enabled | News Drift Spark |
Essential category
Essential storage cannot be switched off because the Site needs a reliable record of your consent decision. Without nds_consent_v17 or its localStorage mirror, we would have to show the banner on every page load and could not honour functional or analytics choices consistently. Essential storage contains no advertising identifiers and no personal name or email.
Functional category
Functional storage controls whether embedded Google Maps may load. Each map wrapper on the Site carries a data-map-embed attribute with the iframe URL. Our JavaScript reads your consent object; if functional is true, it sets the iframe src. If functional is false, the iframe remains empty and a placeholder paragraph is visible instead.
Analytics category
Analytics storage is disabled by default on newsdriftspark.life. We do not use analytics cookies to build advertising profiles. If you enable analytics in the customise panel, we may activate lightweight audience measurement in future revisions; any change will be reflected in this table and in the Privacy notice before activation.
Google Maps disclosure
Every content page on the Site includes a map embed showing 38 Dunlop Street, Singapore 209366. The embed is served by Google Maps Platform inside an iframe. Google may collect IP address, device information, interaction data and cookies according to its own policies when the iframe loads. Loading occurs only after you grant functional consent or choose Accept all on the banner.
We do not receive a copy of Google's full processing log. We choose Google Maps because readers expect a familiar location surface and because the embed respects our compact map layouts. You can avoid Google processing entirely by rejecting functional cookies and reading the text address on the Find the Desk page instead.
Managing your choices
You can reopen the consent panel at any time using the button below or by clearing nds_consent_v17 in your browser and reloading a page, which will show the banner again. You can also block cookies through browser settings, though blocking essential cookies may cause the banner to reappear frequently.
Similar technologies
We do not use pixel tags, fingerprinting scripts or social-media plugins on newsdriftspark.life at the time of this notice. If that changes, we will update this page and the cookie table before deployment. Session storage is not used for consent; only the localStorage key named above mirrors cookie data.
How long choices persist
The nds_consent_v17 cookie uses a Max-Age of one hundred eighty days (15 552 000 seconds) with Path=/ and SameSite=Lax. When it expires, the banner reappears on your next visit. Saving new choices overwrites the previous JSON object and resets the expiry window. Clearing site data in your browser removes both the cookie and localStorage mirror immediately.
Relationship to the Privacy notice
Cookie practices form part of our broader data-protection programme described in the Privacy notice. Questions about personal data beyond storage identifiers should be directed to [email protected]. This Cookie notice focuses on device-side storage; it does not repeat every PDPA paragraph from the Privacy page.
Browser controls
Major browsers allow you to view, delete and block cookies. Refer to your browser's help documentation for steps. Blocking all cookies may affect essential consent memory. Blocking third-party content may prevent Maps from loading even if you accept functional storage.
Updates
We review this notice when our storage practices change. Material updates are noted by date below. Questions may be sent to [email protected].
