Terms of use
These terms govern your access to and use of newsdriftspark.life (the “Site”) operated by News Drift Spark Pte. Ltd. (“we”, “us”, “our”). By accessing the Site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
About the publisher
News Drift Spark Pte. Ltd. publishes an independent news portal from 38 Dunlop Street, #03-01, Singapore 209366. The Site describes editorial desks, sourcing methods, reading rails and desk policies. We write for a Singapore and regional audience using British spelling throughout published material.
Acceptable use
You may read, link to and share URLs from the Site for personal, non-commercial reference, subject to the copyright section below. You may not attempt to gain unauthorised access to our servers, scrape the Site in a manner that impairs performance, introduce malware, misrepresent your affiliation with News Drift Spark, or use automated means to harvest content for republication without permission.
You may not use the Site to transmit unlawful, defamatory, harassing or misleading material to us by email or telephone. We reserve the right to refuse correspondence that abuses staff or that seeks to circumvent published correction procedures.
Copyright and intellectual property
Unless otherwise credited, text, photographs, page layout, graphics, logos, desk names, slate structures and other materials on the Site are owned by News Drift Spark Pte. Ltd. or used under licence. Copyright protection applies under the Copyright Act of Singapore and applicable international treaties.
You may quote brief excerpts for fair dealing purposes such as criticism, review or news reporting provided you attribute News Drift Spark and link to the original URL where practicable. You may not reproduce full articles, photo essays, slate boards or reading rails in print or digital formats without prior written permission, except as permitted by law.
Third-party trademarks, organisation names and photograph credits remain the property of their respective owners. Appearance on the Site does not imply endorsement by those parties.
Syndication by email
Licensing and syndication requests must be sent by email to [email protected]. We do not accept syndication requests through web forms because none are provided on the Site. Your email should include: your name and organisation; the article or desk section you wish to reuse; intended publication venue and format; territory and language; proposed publication date; approximate word count or screenshot of layout; and contact details for billing or rights confirmation if applicable.
We respond to complete syndication enquiries within a reasonable desk window, typically within five business days for standard requests. Permission is not granted until you receive written confirmation from an authorised desk editor. Verbal assurances or social-media messages do not constitute a licence. Approved syndication must carry attribution exactly as specified in the licence email and must not suggest that News Drift Spark endorses your publication unless explicitly agreed in writing.
Fees, if any, are agreed in the licence email. Unauthorised reproduction may result in takedown requests and pursuit of remedies available under Singapore law.
Editorial content and accuracy
Articles and desk notes are published in good faith based on sourcing described on the Sourcing Ladder and related pages. News develops; published files may be updated or corrected as described on the Put it right page. The Site may contain archival material that no longer reflects current facts. Check publication timestamps and correction logs where provided.
No professional advice
Content on the Site is general information and journalism. It is not legal, financial, medical or other professional advice. You should consult qualified advisers before making decisions that depend on specialised expertise.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of harmful components.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Singapore law, News Drift Spark Pte. Ltd. and its directors, employees and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Site shall not exceed the amount you paid us for access to the specific content at issue in the twelve months preceding the claim, or fifty Singapore dollars if no payment was made, whichever is greater where such a cap is enforceable.
Independent news portal
News Drift Spark is an independent news portal. We describe methods on these pages — desks, rails, ladders and correction policies — but we do not promise particular readership levels, search rankings, advertising outcomes or commercial results. Nothing on the Site constitutes a guarantee of future performance.
Third-party links and embeds
The Site may link to external resources or embed third-party content such as Google Maps after you grant functional cookie consent. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices or availability of third-party services. Your use of Google Maps is subject to Google's terms and privacy policy.
Privacy and cookies
Our collection and use of personal data is described in the Privacy notice. Cookie and storage practices are described on the Cookies page. By using the Site you acknowledge those notices.
Changes to the Site and terms
We may modify pages, desk structures or these terms at any time. Material changes to terms will be noted by updating the date below. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms for new access.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore for disputes arising from or relating to the Site, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless News Drift Spark Pte. Ltd. and its directors, employees and contractors from claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Site, your breach of these terms, or your unauthorised reproduction of Site content beyond fair dealing permitted by law.
Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. These terms, together with the Privacy notice and Cookie notice, constitute the entire agreement between you and News Drift Spark regarding use of the Site and supersede prior oral or written understandings on the same subject, except where a separate written contract governs a specific syndication licence.
Photographs and visual assets
Photographs published on the Picture Desk and throughout the Site are protected by copyright separately from accompanying text. Cropping, colour alteration, removal of captions or overlay of unrelated headlines constitutes derivative use that requires permission unless fair dealing applies. Contact [email protected] with a link to the specific image file name where possible.
Archival copies and caching
Search engines and libraries may cache public URLs in the ordinary course of indexing. We do not control third-party caches. If you require a cached copy to be updated after a correction, follow the search provider's removal or refresh procedures in addition to notifying us through the Put it right page so the live Site reflects the correction first.
